Product Manager – Audio Products

BIAMP Systems, a leading international provider of professional installed audio electronics, is seeking an intelligent and highly motivated product manager to help continue our effort to design and deliver high quality and innovative electronic products to the market place. These products are designed to meet the audio requirements for a wide range of applications, including corporate boardrooms, conference centers, theater complexes, courtrooms, houses of worship, educational centers, public venues and other installed audio applications.

The BIAMP Product Manager will be experienced in and familiar with the AV market and have successfully targeted installers, integrators, consultants or IT managers with new product introductions. The Product Manager will develop, launch and support new and existing products throughout the entire product life cycle. Responsibilities will include scanning markets for new product opportunities, performing research, developing use cases, communicating market requirements, interfacing across departments, planning go-to-market strategies, and monitoring and managing select products throughout their life cycle. The Product Manager will possess a blend of business and technical competence, and will be able to communicate effectively within a cross-functional team setting (including end-user customers).

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with internal and external resources to identify new market opportunities.
  • Drive product definitions and requirements through research, balancing business and customer needs with competencies.
  • Interact with cross-functional teams, create MRDs, develop use cases, specify feature sets, establish the go-to-market strategy, and drive the product life cycle.
  • Communicate product status, key issues and launch plans to key constituents across the BIAMP organization including senior management, Engineering, Sales, Operations, Marketing, Technical Support teams.
  • Analyze business opportunities for the best use of resources and return on investment, and present justified recommendations.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape and measure product performance to identify key levers of improvement.
  • Work with Marketing Communications and Sales to define and manage product launch including: positioning and market segmentation, messaging, pricing, promotion, sales strategy, customer training and support.
  • Interface with Marketing Communications and Sales to guide the creation of manuals, product literature, white papers, technical presentations, and sales tools.
  • Manage select products on an ongoing basis, including product line extensions and enhancements, forecasting, and related activities.
  • This position requires travel (average ~25%).

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 to 5 yrs experience as a Product Manager in the Audio/Visual Communications industry is a must with software and/or electronic product emphasis in the audio domain.
  • Experience with manufacturing environment is desirable.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing use cases, performing market research, developing and communicating requirements, and successfully launching new products.
  • An ability to think strategically, yet implement at the tactical level.
  • Strong analytical problem solving, organizational, and product management skills absolutely required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be comfortable in front of customers, sales teams, and executives.
  • Ability to work in a cooperative manner to coordinate efforts from multiple functional teams to achieve a specific goal.
  • A proven ability to champion products.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or technical discipline required, MS or MBA preferred.

QA Engineer

Biamp Systems is seeking a QA Engineer who is responsible for contributing to ongoing release cycle testing of existing products, as well as integration and initial release validation of new products. In addition, this position is responsible for developing utilities to automate testing tasks wherever possible, using Python code written in accordance with QA coding standards; suggesting improvements to process and testing strategies where potential improvements are applicable and filing defect reports clearly, with easily understood steps to reproduce problems and is likewise responsible for verifying the resolution to reported defects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Testing of Biamp products and active participation in release cycles
  • Full-cycle reporting of defects and verification of fixes
  • Development of automated testing infrastructure and scripted test cases
  • Development and maintenance of written Test Plans and Test Cases
  • Remain flexible in task assignment as weekly priorities can shift quickly

Minimum requirements:

  • 4 years QA experience with manual, black/grey box, automated testing
  • 3 years Python programming (OO, unittest, networking preferred)
  • Experience testing Windows applications and embedded software
  • Experience with SVN or similar source control application
  • Networking basics (Telnet, TCP/IP, switches/routers, PoE)
  • Demonstrable skills in problem solving, organized troubleshooting
  • Experience with Windows and Linux platforms

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with SharePoint or similar content management system
  • Experience with GUI automation (IronPython, Ranorex or other framework)
  • MySQL in conjunction with Python or PHP
  • Handling/installing racked audio and computer equipment
  • Remaining focused at a computer station for most of the workday

Regional Development Manager - North America

Biamp Systems, a leading manufacturer of professional electronics for use in the integrated network audio/video market, based in Beaverton, Oregon, USA, is currently recruiting for a Regional Development Manager position in North America.

Responsibilities include:

  • Training end users, integrators and consultants on all aspects of Biamp’s networked audio equipment, its functions and its uses, with special emphasis on the Audia, Nexia and Vocia platforms.
  • Giving sales and technical presentations direct to key end-users.
  • Giving Biamp feedback, both technical and commercial, from customers and end users.
  • Manning trade show booths as described below.

The successful applicant will ideally possess the following skill-set:

  • Experience in selling to IT departments in any of the following verticals: government, corporate, higher education, or healthcare.
  • Experience in working in an IT department as a manager is a plus.
  • Ability to interface with IT consultants.
  • Experience in working with a Federal IT Contractors and a desire to interface with them on a daily basis.
  • Prior experience interfacing with MEP consulting firms.
  • An interest in working with security and fire consultants as well as the integrators doing business in these areas.
  • Have attended Trade shows in any of the four vertical areas listed above meeting with IT, Administrative, and Risk Managers as well as consultants in those same verticals.
  • An interest in working with audio DSP, especially system design using software.
  • Computer networking experience (preferably including audio networking).
  • Ability to give both technical and sales presentations to any level of attendee, from C-level executives on down.
  • Strong self-motivation to allow efficient work in a location remote from the company’s headquarters.

The successful applicant will be based within the United States. The position requires about 50% travel within a region as well as many frequent trips to BIAMP’s facility in Beaverton, Oregon if located outside the Portland, Oregon area. Senior Buyer

Biamp Systems is seeking a Senior Buyer for a fast-paced, upbeat environment. This is a key position, responsible for purchasing functions, ranging from MRO buys to production material purchasing. We are seeking a positive, creative individual with the ability to add value through innovative ideas. Biamp Systems works towards continuous improvement through team concepts.

Biamp Systems manufactures professional audio equipment that is sold worldwide. We develop and manufacture most products in Beaverton, in a vertically-integrated production environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • The successful candidate will have direct responsibility for key aspects of production purchasing, including:
    1. Planned orders analysis and execution
    2. Forecasting analysis and communication to suppliers
    3. Shortages/late orders tracking and system updates MRP Exception report analysis and execution
    4. Management of rejected component returns and Supplier corrective action administration
    5. Cost/price discrepancies analysis and resolution
  • Develop and maintain supplier relations including supplier relationships and communication with offshore suppliers.
  • Review existing processes, looking for improvements
  • Manage and evaluate Breadman Programs
  • Establish and maintain KanBan deliveries from suppliers
  • Complete other projects as assigned
  • Required travel averaging 4-6 weeks per year, may include Foreign Travel

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years purchasing experience with increasing responsibility and innovation, including experience in purchasing electronic components, circuit boards, and fabricated metal parts. Knowledge of Mechanical Castings a plus. Experience in a manufacturing environment, is desired.
  • Strong MRP / ERP experience required. Possess high energy and drive with ability to process complex situations thoroughly yet quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel, both internally and with our supplier base.
  • Ability to balance priorities and follow up on action items, excellent follow through and reporting capabilities.
  • Participation in, and leadership of, cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Windows applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
  • Previous experience with KanBan systems is a plus.
